A man notable in banking, consulting and project development who also made an impact on several businesses locally and abroad – George Sycip, also known as ‘Edwin’ is an exemplary businessman and an investment advisor who received his AB in International Relations and Economics in 1978 from Stanford University, and an MBA from Harvard University.

George Sycip is the son of the late Washington Sycip whose crowning achievement was the establishment of the SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co (SGV) firm. He pioneered in corporate social responsibility by organizing the SGV Foundation, through which the company donates professional services to non-government organizations devoted to civic affairs and social problems. In addition, Washington Sycip founded the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) with Ramon del Rosario Sr. and held the position as the founding chairman of AIM until his retirement in 2001.

Today, SGV & Company (SGV) continues to be the largest accounting firm in the Philippines, auditing about half of 304 publicly listed companies in the Philippine Stock Exchange.

With a laudable family background, George Sycip is undoubtedly an accomplished individual with distinguished philanthropic work as he is a part of the board of several notable non-profit organizations such as; Give2Asia, a renowned international non-profit organization that is focused on strengthening and providing assistance to other local, charitable organizations across Asia by fostering a network of donors and programs.
